I get this question on a daily basis. Sellers who are thinking about putting their home on the market in the next year wonder if they should stick to the age old seasonal tradition of waiting until the Spring or Fall to list, or trust the news articles they are reading about low inventory and to sell their home immediately. If your home is generally ready to list, and you would only have a few projects to take on before being ready (with the help if your realtor of course), then I suggest trying getting your home onto the market ASAP. Inventory in Toronto is the lowest it has been in 16 years and we have a TON of buyers in the market right now looking for a home. Like, a ton (read “I’ve been in far too many bloody bidding wars lately”). Almost every house that has been listed in the past month has sold for over asking because there are multiple offers. Don’t wait for Spring to be official ..

Of course there’s a catch 22 to all of this … and that’s that you will need a new home to move into. Work with a great realtor to ensure that the domino effect of buying and selling stays in check.
